About Us

Pete & Craig started The Auction in September 2006, with Grant joining the crew in 08.

We work well as a team, with an appreciation of our own characters, knowlege & individuality.

We all have a good sense of humour and like to share that sense of humour with our customers.

Each one of us has been on the opposite side of the auction counter many times, so we understand the needs of the customer whether they are first timers or seasoned professionals.

We pride ourselves on our policy of being able to offer a personal, friendly & honest service.

Pete is about 40ish:-

Originally from North West England, Pete arrived in New Zealand in 2002 with his wife Linda after she had secured a theatre nursing position. He quickly adapted to life in New Zealand establishing himself as a trader, dealing in Antique & Collectable china. He was presented with the opportunity of becoming a licensed auctioneer which he found intriguing and so here he is.

Craig is a little older:-

Craig grew up in a household filled with antiques, so has an appreciation of the finer items.  He predominantly has a background in computer programming, maintenance & administration.

Craig started auction work in 2003 for the previous owners of the business primarily doing the data entry, floor managing and being the point of contact for customers.

The Auction programme that we currently run is his creation which he takes great pride in maintaining, enhancing & advancing, helping us to streamline the practice.

Grant is the grandaddy of the crew:-

Grants is a simple history that most good old-fashioned Kiwi blokes can relate to. Hunting, fishing, adventure & No.8 wire. This is his second stint in the auction industry gaining valuable experience with a former auction house.

Learning his trade as a cabinetmaker he developed an appreciation of quality, which follows through, to his work ethic on the auction floor.  Very much family & people orientated.
